We are in with a chance of some funding which will allow the “bite” extension and some other additions to the skatepark in Dudhope Park to be done!

You can vote every week, spread the word and come back regularly to vote!
You can find out more about the extension plans on this page.
If you can post the link in as many places as possible that would be great, you can use the hashtags #DundeeSkate #Patch on twitter too!!!

Things are moving forward quickly with Castlegar’s First Indoor Skatepark, KYIS, inside the Kinnaird Park Community Church.

It is being reported on MountainFM that Trail will be seeking provincial funding from BC’s Community Recreation Program to cover a majority of the approximate 0,000 price tag of their new skatepark. The kicker is that this was prioritized over a potential pedestrian/bridge crossing replacement which could be extremely pricey and has had little discussions as yet.
Finally some forward thinking for the youth and community of Trail…well done to Trails Mayor Dieter Bogs
Trail skatepark funding on nov 29th 2011 from Mountainfm
On
August 25th , The City of Wilmington City Council passed ordinances
– 11-037 & 11-038 for funding of the skateboard park.
http://www.ci.wilmington.de.us/government/councilagenda082511
This
renews the ordinance that was originally passed in December of 2006. The city still has to go to the bond
market to acquire the money in hand.
We have inquired about when this will happen but have not heard to date.
Obviously
we share in the frustration of how far behind we are as a community in acquiring
these much needed facilities. However we are happy with successes in creating
the East 7th street skate spot and advocating since 2003 for
skateparks in New Castle County, with the Glasgow Skatepark currently being
built.
You
can still exercise your freedom to be heard and occupy your place in your
government by contacting the city through its website to urge the pursuit of
the bond money. http://www.ci.wilmington.de.us/
Many
thanks to Brannon John for spearheading the 7th street effort and to
the rest of the Kinetic crew, Tyler and the Switch crew, Jesse and the crew at
Fifth Pocket Designs and many individuals. Also thanks to NCC, Jon Husband and Councilman Tackett for
keeping the Glasgow project alive.
For Real.
British Town Mayor sets Skatepark as priority;
“I joined the town council six years ago because of a lack of youth facilities in the town, so I am really hoping the skatepark plan will come to fruition during my mayoral year.”
